Sitting between the calm Mediterranean and rugged Atlantic oceans, Andalucia sits at Spain's southernmost point, bordered by Extremadura and Castile-la Mancha in the north. It is one of Spain's autonomous regions and shares a three quarter mile land border with the British territory of Gibraltar. Its prime location in the Mediterranean means it has a fantastic climate, with yearly average temperature of 61 degree, reaching an average of 28.5 degree in the summer months. As a result many people are drawn to this unique and diverse landscape for its beaches and to enjoy the sun, sea and sand. There is a lot more to this region however, than meets the eye. The terrain in Andalucia varies, from vast plains and beaches to the mountains of the Iberian Peninsula, some of which reach as high as 11,411ft. There is also a multitude of historic monuments, museums and areas of stunning natural beauty that make this region the perfect holiday destination. Whatever you want to do, all of the Andalucia hotels available across the region are in prime locations for exploring all the wonderful sights and activities available in this unique area of Spain.

For those people who are looking for the ideal getaway to a tourist hotspot, to enjoy cocktails, sun-bathing and the crystal clear waters of the coasts, Cadiz is undoubtedly the place to be. Cadiz is the oldest continually inhabited city in the Iberian Peninsula and has a rich history to go with its fabulous beaches. The city itself is almost completely surrounded by water, joined to the mainland by nothing more than a thin strip of land.

The beaches of Cadiz are always a hive of activity, with beach bars, water sporting activities and sun-bathers. When evening falls the beaches change dramatically, locals and tourists alike join together in the many beach bars, enjoying tapas and drinks into the night. La Playa de la Caleta is the most popular beach in Cadiz, this 12,000ft long beach is situated between two castles, San Sebastian and Santa Catalina. This beach resembles much of the beaches in Havana, Cuba and so was used to film some Cuban scenes in James Bond films.

If sunbathing in Cadiz is not your thing, Jerez de la Frontera is a principal city in Andalucia. Here you can find some incredible historic monuments, quaint Spanish markets and some fantastic restaurants serving everything from fresh Seafood to tapas. This region of Spain is also famous for making some excellent wines, including those of Tio Pepe. If you are looking for historical monuments The Alcazar is a must see. This fortress was built in the 12th Century and is one of the oldest remaining parts of the city. Ascending to the top of the keep you can get a spectacular view of most of the city, as well as the Alcazar itself.
